Your Loughborough University Students Guide to Refreshers 2020

That’s it – you’ve done it, exams are finally over! It is time to enjoy a round of drinks without the feeling of guilt looming over you, and nap till your heart’s content. Loughborough University hosts various events after exams so whether they went well, or you would rather not think about them, refreshers can be enjoyed by each and every student!

Starting on Tuesday 28th January, there are sober day activities hosted by Loughborough student societies, showcasing events that promote what their society is about. These include Flix Cinema society, Table Top Gaming society, Video Game society, and a cook and bake event presented by the Cocktail society. If you’re a student interested in potentially joining these societies, these fun sessions are a great way to both relax and get to know more information. There will be more information about locations and timings on the Loughborough Student’s Union social media pages, so make sure you are following them, and you can click on this link to find out more http://bit.ly/38K3rTd!

If you’ve been cooped up in Pilkington library these past two weeks, politely ignoring your friend’s messages of “pub?” – get ready for a week of mayhem! There is a night out being hosted in the union every night of the week. The regular Stupid Tuesday, Hey Ewe and FND are being joined by the lesser-known ‘Subversion’ and the new and heavily anticipated ‘The Indie Club.’ Add some student refresher drink deals into the mix, and you’ll forget any stress you once felt about results day. Just make sure you don’t go too heavy on the VKs, as you’ll definitely want to enjoy the Student’s Union Day events.

If you’re now out of campus accommodation and living in town, there are a few events happening in town that are external to the university. On Friday 31 st January, DBE is back and as big as ever, being hosted in both Echo’s and Firefly. If that’s not tempting enough, Firefly is revealing a whole new room, which is opening especially for the event! Playing bass, house, techno and disco music, you’re guaranteed a night of dancing with both Loughborough’s own students and well-known DJs playing. If you’re into more alternative, rock or classic music, ‘The Cask Bah’ is a new pub on Loughborough high street; regularly playing live music and promoting new, lesser-known bands.

If you’re looking for a more relaxed or peaceful time to rejuvenate your mind and body following exams, there is a spa both in Loughborough town and on the university campus. It’s a perfect way to really relieve and compose yourself, and surprisingly a lot more affordable than you’d expect!

Whatever your plans are, make sure you enjoy yourself! You’ve worked hard and deserved this small break before semester two.
