A Loughborough University Student Guide to Valentine’s Day
Valentine’s day is fast approaching, and whether it’s a date night or a ‘Galentine’s day’ session, there are plenty of events happening in and just outside of Loughborough. From acoustic singalongs to a DJ night out, there is something to satisfy everyone this February 14th!
Starting in Loughborough town, The Kelso are offering a Valentine’s day boogie with DJ 4Real. Promising to ‘bring the love to the dancefloor,’ there is free entry before 11pm, 2 for £10 cocktail deals all night long, and the promise of free love heart sweets! A local club venue providing both the class of cocktails and the fun of a Loughborough night out.
If you’re looking for a more informal and musical event, student favourite ‘Lost in Music’ is providing a ‘night of mischief’ as they transform Firefly in Loughborough town for a special Valentine’s day celebration. This event is tailored towards those who are single and looking to mingle, as they are providing stickers on the door of the gender you are looking to attract! So, make sure you are looking and feeling your best as it is set to a big night for the single students of Loughborough.
For something a little more refined and classy, The Organ Grinder in Loughborough have announced the return of ‘Gin & Jazz’ for a Valentine’s day special – hosted by Burleigh’s Gin. Following a sold-out event in November, they are back and ready to offer gin loving singles and couples a guided gin tasting session complemented by intermissions of jazz music. A duo that works almost as perfectly as the couples in attendance. It starts at 8pm and finishes at 11pm, so it could potentially work as great pre-drinks for students looking for a night out afterwards. Make sure you are quick though, as tickets are set to sell out quickly!
Continuing on with the theme of music, Beyond Main Street are an acoustic duo making their debut at The Mooring, Barrow upon Soar on Valentine’s night! Playing acoustic music from the 50’s to the tunes of today, it would be the perfect night for music lovers to attend – a romantic singalong in a venue that students may not have yet discovered.
If you are looking to escape the Loughborough student bubble, remember that Nottingham and Leicester are only a short and cheap train journey away. From traffic light parties to bottomless brunch, Nottingham would play a great host for a romantic night out or short getaway. Fusic in Leicester is offering a Valentine’s Day special, providing a Candle Light dinner and dance with a live DJ and unlimited buffet. On top of this, all couples get a free bottle of wine – a perfect Valentine’s day treat!
Love is in the air this month, so make sure you make the most of it - whether you’re loving yourself or someone else! Happy Valentine’s day from the Clan Living team.
